LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A social justice organization that has spent the past few months calling for justice for Breonna Taylor now plans to hold a four-day "community convention" in her honor, featuring workshops, a school supplies giveaway and a faith revival.
The event, called "BreonnaCon," will take place Aug. 22-25 in Louisville, where Taylor was fatally shot by police officers during a failed narcotics investigation in March.
It's been organized by Until Freedom, a New York-based group that has temporarily relocated to Louisville. It's expected to draw several "notable influencers and celebrities," including Porsha Williams and Phaedra Parks of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" and Yandy Smith-Harris of "Love & Hip Hop New York."
The convention will culminate in a "massive demonstration" on Aug. 25, during which participants will nonviolently "escalate the urgent call for justice for Breonna Taylor and the Louisville community," according to a press release.
"BreonnaCon will engage, activate and transform the Louisville community by building a comprehensive slate of programming that will amplify the urgent need for justice for Breonna," Until Freedom co-founder Tamika Mallory said in the release. "BreonnaCon will address a number of issues impacting the community including food insecurity."

Since June, Until Freedom has organized several large-scale events in Louisville and Frankfort, including a sit-in at Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron's home last month.
Over the weekend, its members and volunteers from several local social justice groups delivered 2,000 boxes of free food to people citywide.
