Greeting from the edge of Freedom.

The Freedom Board of Selectmen will be holding an executive session Nov. 16, under the authority of 1 MRSA 405(6)a. Often executive sessions are simply held at the end of a regular meeting, but scheduling conflicts led to this particular session being held in the morning instead.

I missed this month's meeting of the Freedom Community Historical Society. Their meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

At the selectmen's meeting Nov. 9, I made a comment regarding what I believe to be infringements of rights that are taking place in these times. I received a call from Selectmen C. Ronald Price. We had a very reasonable conversation. Even though we disagree on methods of action and approaches to dealing with the "holocough," I was pleased to realize again that Ron is doing his best. We are all in unfamiliar territory. No reasonable person wants infringement of liberties, or a lockdown, or to wear a mask everywhere. Conflicting and ever-changing advice from medical professionals at the highest levels makes it hard to take any guidance seriously.

At the same time, Ron and I agree that given a real threat, we should all pull together and be willing to make sacrifices. Real sacrifice has real cost.

As fall rolls on and winter comes around, don't forget that Freedom residents are permitted to get two 5-gallon buckets of sand per storm from the town sand shed, located on Skidgel Lane.

There are too many resources to list in Waldo County if you are having difficulty eating, heating your home, clothing yourself or your children, or even with diapers. Much of the assistance that is available consists mainly of neighbors helping each other, with no "system" to work through. If you would help someone who needed it, don't be ashamed to ask for help if you need it.

"If I could turn back the hands of time, and do it all once again, I'd control this mouth of mine, and be a much gentler man." — Payday Monsanto, "End of the Day."

Peace.
