Residents of Freedom Village at Brandywine in West Brandywine hosted a surprise birthday celebration on Sunday, Oct. 31 to honor resident Jack Freemann on his 100th birthday and to pay tribute to his service in the military as the last remaining World War II Helldiver pilot from the USS Hancock. U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA-6), offered remarks and presented Freemann with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for his 100th birthday celebration and his service during World War II. Many residents at Freedom Village at Brandywine helped to organize the celebration. Freeman said he was “extremely grateful” to his fellow residents and community for planning the celebration of his 100th birthday and service. He also took the time to “thank and recognize the brave men and women who have served in the United States military.”
