LAFAYETTE – On a day when Indiana marked a single-day high in new coronavirus cases, Tippecanoe County saw 23 additional cases, according Indiana State Department of Health figures released Thursday.
Those cases came with 813 new tests attributed to Tippecanoe County, an increase of more than double typical days in recent weeks that coincides with ramped up testing as Purdue University students prepare to return to campus.
Across the state, Indiana added 1,051 cases and six deaths, bringing Indiana’s totals to 71,015 cases and 2,811 deaths. Thursday's new case total was the second time Indiana topped 1,000 cases in a day. The 1,051 cases Thursday was more than the previous one-day high of 1,011 on July 24.
There were no additional deaths reported Thursday for Tippecanoe County or surrounding counties.
Here were the numbers for the state and Tippecanoe County’s neighbors and the daily increase in coronavirus cases and deaths, according to Thursday’s report from the Indiana State Department of Health.
- Benton County: 60 cases, unchanged; deaths, zero, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 68.6; positivity rate past seven days: 6.0%.
- Carroll County: 157 cases, increase of 5; deaths, 2, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 77.5; positivity rate past seven days: 4.2%.
- Clinton County: 404 cases; increase of 16; deaths, 3, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 124.7; positivity rate past seven days: 6.0%.
- Fountain County: 64 cases, unchanged; deaths, 2, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 39.1; positivity rate past seven days: 5.7%.
- Jasper County: 219 cases, increase of 3; deaths, 2, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 65.2; positivity rate past seven days: 9.2%.
- Montgomery County: 346 cases, increase of 3; deaths, 21, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 90.2; positivity rate past seven days: 6.8%.
- Newton County: 114 cases, unchanged; deaths, 10, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 81.5; positivity rate past seven days: 9.2%.
- Tippecanoe County: 1,146 cases, increase of 23; deaths, 11, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 58.5; positivity rate past seven days: 4.3%.
- Warren County: 20 cases, increase of 1; deaths, 1, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 24.2; positivity rate past seven days: 0%.
- White County: 351 cases, increase of 2; deaths, 10, unchanged; cases per 10,000 residents: 145.6; positivity rate past seven days: 3.7%.
- Indiana: 71,015 cases, increase of 1,051; deaths, 2,811 increase of 6; cases per 10,000 residents: 105.4; positivity rate past seven days: 7.4%.
