Mississippi’s total of presumptive cases of COVID-19 now stands at 60,147 after the Mississippi Health Department reported a single-day high of 572 newly identified cases on Monday.

It is the second consecutive day Mississippi has had less than 1,000 cases

Also, hospitalizations are down a tick at 968 from the high of 989 on Sunday, but they are still up nearly 300 from just 20 days ago.

The verifiable single-day high for number of cases had been 1,775 on July 30 as all of the top 10 single-days high have come since July 16.

There have been 1,664 total deaths reported (8 new).

Cumulatively thus far, Hinds County has the most cases with 5,269, followed by Desoto County with 3,326, Madison County with 2,297, Harrison with 2,152, Rankin County with 2,146, Jackson with 1,994 and Jones County with 1,774.

Counties with the most deaths are Hinds with 106, Lauderdale with 88, Neshoba with 88, Leflore with 59, Jones with 57, Madison with 56, Forrest with 53, Monroe with 50 and Holmes with 47.
