FORT WORTH, Texas. – In its first action since March, the Baylor women's tennis team returned to action, debuting the 2020-21 season with a three-day event at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth.
Baylor went 16-9 in singles matches for the weekend and 5-9 in doubles. All three new Baylor players won at least one singles match in their collegiate debuts. Freshmen Audrey Boch-Collins, Hannah Pinto and Caroline Kotarski donned the green and gold for the first time in their careers with the former two taking two wins on the singles court and Kotarski winning her only match.
The event featured players from Texas, North Texas, TCU, Arkansas, LSU and Oklahoma.
Anastasia Kharitinova and Boch-Collins each went 2-0 on the singles court for the Bears while Livia Kraus, Mel Krywoj, Kristina Sorokolet, and Alicia Herrero Linana went 2-1. Livia Kraus and Kris Sorokolet teamed up to go 2-1 on the weekend on the doubles court and were the only Baylor pair to take home more than one victory.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Friday, Angie Shakhraichuk teamed up with freshman Audrey Boch-Collins to beat Maria Ponomareva & Nidhi Surapaneni of North Texas, 6-4. It was the 40th doubles win of Shakhraichuk's career.
• Saturday, Kristina Sorokolet defeated Claire Slaughter of Arkansas, 6-1, 6-3 in singles. It was the 45th victory of her singles career.

10 – All 10 Baylor student-athletes that participated in the three-day TCU Invitational recorded at least one win on the singles court.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor will play host to players from the University of Texas Oct. 23-24 in the H-E-B Baylor vs. Texas Shootout. The ITA sanctioned event won't be a dual match, but will feature several singles and doubles matches between players from the Bears and the Longhorns at the Hurd Tennis Center.
