Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- In its first home court appearances of the season, the Central Michigan volleyball team chalked up a pair of wins.

The Chippewas swept North Dakota, 25-18, 25-19, 25-12, and then took down Butler in four sets, 24-26, 25-21, 25-19, 25-21, on Friday during the Chippewa Invitational.

CMU (3-2) is scheduled to close the invitational on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) against Youngstown State.

"I really like where we were at as a team tonight, being aggressive," CMU Mike Gawlik said. "We're working on doing that so when we get to (Mid-American Conference) play, we're in a better position to score points."

The Chippewas maintained a strong offensive showing and kept errors to a minimum across the three sets with North Dakota, holding a .299 overall hitting percentage over the Fighting Hawks' .134.

Savannah Thompson led the offense against North Dakota, amassing 16 kills, while setter Kamryn Olson contributed 22 assists.

CMU's battle with Butler comprised long, intense rallies. The Chippewas struggled early and dropped the first set, but made a quick recovery and sealed the victory with the next three.

"I liked where we were making our errors today," Gawlik said. "I felt like they were aggressive errors, I felt like we were seeing some of the things we worked on in practice in the game play. We're not going to be perfect at it, but I really appreciate the risks we were taking tonight, trying to find a way to score points opposed to prolonging rallies."

Three Chippewas posted double-digit kills against Butler: Thompson had 18, Anna Erickson added 12, and Maddie Whitfield finished with 10. Lisbeth Rosario-Martinez was good on nine of 17 attack attempts for a .412 hitting percentage.

Setters Grace Butler and Kamryn Olson had 25 and 20 assists respectively, and libero Aly Gurtiza posted 20 digs along with three aces.

"When we win, we're winning because a lot of people contribute," Gawlik said. "That's one of the things we talk about, having balance in our offense. When we have everybody contributing, we're tough to stop."
