Day two featured matchups against host Miami in singles action, while the doubles pairings went up against duos from Kentucky and Barry University, respectively.
Duke opened the day with four singles matches against the Hurricanes and came away with a pair of victories. Chloe Beck and Kelly Chen each picked up wins for the Blue Devils, doing so in straight sets. Beck powered past Isabella Pfenning, 7-6(8), in a tightly contested first set, then left no doubt in set two as she raced to a 6-0 decision. Chen defeated Eden Richardson, 6-4 and 6-3, to claim Duke's second win of the day.
Margaryta Bilokin and Georgia Drummy also competed in singles play but ultimately came up short in their respective matches. Bilokin fell to Miami's Audrey Boch-Collins and Drummy dropped her match to the Hurricanes' Daevenia Achong.
The Blue Devils closed out the day with a clean sweep of doubles, as the tandem of Beck and Bilokin took down Kentucky's Carlota Molina/Elizabeth Stevens, 6-2.
Chen and Drummy completed the perfect day for doubles by besting Barry University's Madeline Bosnjak/Deniz Khazan. Duke took an early 2-1 advantage, but the Bucs' duo battled back to surge in front, 4-3. Despite the slight momentum shift, Chen and Drummy never wavered. The duo scored the next three points to take the match, 6-4.
The Blue Devils will return to the courts Sunday for the final day of the Miami Fall Invite. Matches are set to commence at 9 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
