Freedom Museum

The Freedom Museum has recently relocated to Old Town Manassas, at the site of an old bookstore.

You’ll find displays of the soldiers’ uniforms in the window. Inside, you’ll find models of ships and planes and the uniforms the servicemen and -women wore.  This is not just a museum: this is a hallowed hall of heroes who devoted their lives to the cause of freedom.

Although many of the displays are of and devoted to the servicemen and -women of Prince William County, each one tells the story of the nation.  Stories from World War I to World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm to the present day are included. There are artifacts from the different wars, to include the guns and swords used.  A visit to the Freedom Museum will leave you with an appreciation of those who devoted and sacrificed their lives in order that you can enjoy your freedom.

Along with the displays and the artifacts, there are guided tours. The museum also has a Footlocker program, where the museum comes to your school or organization.

The Freedom Museum is located at 9129 Center Street (Virginia Route 28 North) in Manassas.  It is open on the first Friday of the month from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and every Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  The museum is completely run by volunteers; there is no paid staff.  Admission is free; donations are welcome.  The museum does not have its own parking, but parking is available at nearby public lots.  It is also accessible to wheelchairs.

When you visit the Freedom Museum, you will realize that it is not a museum, but instead a hallowed hall of those who gave their lives for freedom’s cause.
