KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Sunday is August 16, 2020. But, in Kansas City, it's known as "816 Day", a day to celebrate all things KC.

In 2018, Mayor Sly James signed a resolution to celebrate the cities holiday. It is named after the city's area code and the day it takes place.

Many small businesses are giving deals to customers in honor of the day. This comes at a time where these locally owned stores are struggling because of the pandemic.

Modern Man Supply Company is a new store to the River Market area. They sell t-shirts, along with men's grooming products and more. They moved to the area almost two months ago. They are taking part in the holiday in hopes to bring in more traffic to their store during these hard times.

"The days where we have people in that just kind of come to hang out and talk and stuff like that to me those are the best days of the store because it's a small sliver of getting back to normal," said Josh Wilson with Modern Man Supply Co.

18th and Vine is celebrating the day with events throughout the day in the area.
