Marathon County citizens, along with the group Get Involved Wisconsin, held a Freedom rally in Mosinee on Sunday in response to the recent mask mandate in Wisconsin.
"We should have freedom of choice," said one of the event organizers Cory Tomczyk. "If people want to wear a mask, they're welcome to wear a mask. Many of us don't want to."
The groups organized the event in hopes that it would bring awareness to freedom's they believe are being taken away.
"The American spirit is, we're bold and we're brave and we want to live our lives," said Meg Ellefson, one of the speakers at the event and the Executive Director of Get Involved Wisconsin. "We want to be free."
In addition to Ellefson, the event featured several speakers from across the United States, that shared their perspectives, hoping to inspire change.
"People on the right just want to be quiet and go about their business," said Chris Piotrowski, one of those in attendance at the rally. "They aren't activists, they don't like to get involved quite a bit, except for voting, but I think more people do have to get involved."
To which event organizers say there are several ways people can get out and get involved.
"Get informed and to speak the truth," said Ellefson. "Stand up for what you believe in and to not be afraid and to go vote in 2020."
