The Liberty and Freedom football teams will not meet on the field this fall.
The rivalry contest between the two Bethlehem foes, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, is canceled.
The Freedom athletic department announced the cancellation on Tuesday, citing new COVID-19 mitigation orders from Gov. Tom Wolf as the reason.
The matchup was pushed back from its original date of Oct. 31 after the coronavirus struck the Liberty coaching staff.
Freedom ends its season at 5-2 after finishing runner-up to Nazareth in the District 11 Class 6A final on Friday. Liberty went winless this fall at 0-6. The Hurricanes dropped a contingency game to Parkland on Friday.
Bethlehem Area School District announced last week the suspension of winter athletic activities through Jan. 11, 2021.
