In the past few days, we found banners located in our student free expression areas missing and damaged, apparently stolen or vandalized. They were Black Lives Matter banners. In all cases, vandalism on our campus is a potential crime and destroys the fabric of our community. It will not be tolerated. At this moment in our history, when we are anxiously awaiting the results of the elections, we are likely to experience a great degree of angst, and it is more important than ever that we honor the values of the Seahawk Respect Compact.
Seahawk Respect Compact
In the pursuit of excellence, UNC Wilmington actively fosters, encourages, and promotes inclusiveness, mutual respect, acceptance, and open-mindedness among students, faculty, staff and the broader community.

Therefore, we expect members of the campus community to honor these principles as fundamental to our ongoing efforts to increase access to and inclusion in a community that nurtures learning and growth for all.
