On Tuesday night, J.D. Davis exited the game early after getting hit on the hand with a pitch. The initial x-rays came back negative for Davis last night, but he still needed to go through another round today just to confirm that he was in the clear.
As announced during SNY’s broadcast of the game today, Davis’ second round of x-rays also came back negative and he remains day-to-day with the hand injury. Prior to the contest, manager Luis Rojas told us that Davis’ hand “swelled up a bit” and he was considered questionable to return over the next few days.
Luis Guillorme started in Davis’ place at third base today and will likely get the opportunity to start the Mets home opener tomorrow against the Miami Marlins. The Mets then have an off-day on Friday, giving Davis some more time to ice up his hand and rest, before potentially returning over the weekend.
