TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The IUPUI women's track and field team set two more school records, making it five over the past three days at the Gibson Invitational, hosted by Indiana State. On Saturday, freshman Sabrina Robison increased her own school record in the pole vault and Marie Terry cut into her own school record in the 400m hurdles.

In all, IUPUI athletes accounted for eight personal bests on Saturday.

"There were lots of positives coming out of this weekend besides the PBs. Each of our athletes just really attacked their races and refused to quit when things got hard. The team really showed another level of grit and took advantage of some great races," head coach Antonio McDaniel said. "Every moment of the race where they had to decide if they would push through or quit, they chose to push through.

"Now we just have to keep this mentality every time we step on the track."

On the track, Sabrina Elder chimed in with a personal best effort in the 800m event with a time of 2:15.41 while Sophia Taylor spun a time of 2:22.41. In the 1,500m, senior Katelyn Murphy posted a personal best time of 4:36.51 to place eighth overall and freshman Sophie Reichard notched a time of 4:52.12.

Coming off the multis the past two days, Kayla Wolnik clocked a time of 15.74 in the prelims of the 100 hurdles while Terry put down a time of 15.83. Terry excelled in the 400 hurdles though where she placed fourth overall in an impressive time of 1:04.26 to shave time off her own school record.

Robison continued to build on an already impressive freshman campaign by taking second in the pole vault, clearing 3.75m (12' 3.5'') on her final attempt, upping her own school record in the process. Kelly Zehnder cleared 3.30m (10' 10'') on Saturday.

"It was awesome. It was fabulous weather for a great outdoor meet," Robison said.

Lauren Palmer's third long jump attempt was her best effort of the day as she put up a mark of 4.76m (15' 7.5''). Wolnik led the way for IUPUI's three triple jumpers with a jump of 11.05m (36' 3'') to advance to the finals. Palmer jumped 10.69m (35' 1'') and Zehnder jumped 10.43m (34' 2.75''). Lana Pham keyed IUPUI's two high jump entrants by clearing 1.50m (4' 11'') on her third and final try.

Mikayla Miller returned to the shot put ring on Saturday where she posted a best throw of 9.87m (32' 4.75'') on her second toss of the day.

Earlier in the day, Makayla Clampitt paced IUPUI's two entries in the 100m dash with a time of 13.06 and Palmer notched a time of 13.17.

"This weekend was loaded with opportuniity - some we took advantage of and some we left sitting out there," assistant coach Marissa Chew said. "At the end of the day, we are in a good position leading into our last cycle before conference. We had glimpses of improvement from the hepts, progress in the pole vault and hurdles and a great showing for the triple jump. We're back to work on Monday to sharpen the tools."

The women's team is scheduled to split efforts between the Hillsdale College GINA Relays and Redhawk Invitational next weekend.
