Who is Cody Wilson? If you find yourself asking that question today, for some reason, here is a quick primer on the 24-year-old, 2018 Nationals’ 13th Round pick, who impressed manager Davey Martinez this spring, and was spotted on the field in the nation’s capital yesterday for the club’s first workouts since the news of positive COVID tests brought their prep for 2021’s season opener to a halt.

If Wilson’s on the Opening Day roster, here’s what you need to know:

“Cody had a really good spring,” Martinez said. “He’s a guy that can play multiple outfield positions. He can fly. Can do a lot of different things. So he’s a guy that we can use, late inning, for defense, maybe pinch hit for one of our lefties. He’s had a really good spring.

“But he’s an unbelievable defensive player as well. Just another young kid that we felt like because of the spring that he had, that we could use him in different ways.”
