DURHAM, N.C. – Duke Football in conjunction with the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation participated in the BIG DAY, which is a national day dedicated to supporting and celebrating teachers, by saying "thank you" to those amazing educators who help our kids learn.
The Blue Devils donated $1,000 to Neal Middle School in Durham, specifically $500 to Ms. Pierce's class and $500 to Mr. Wylie's class. The money for Ms. Pierce's class will go toward multiple monitors for her multitasking campaign, while the money for Mr. Wylie's class will be put toward his Chromebook Covers initiative.
This is the largest single-day effort of community impact ever undertaken by the extended college football family. It comes as teachers perform their essential duties against the extraordinary backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. As schools across the country have been closed for in-person learning, teachers have found a way to keep kids learning. More than 150 partners across the country are expected to participate in the CFP Foundation's initiative, including universities, conferences, bowl games, high schools, and corporate and educational organizations.
"We are proud of America's teachers and honored that college football is in a position to support them in so many ways," said CFP Executive Director Bill Hancock.
