On Thursday, Oct. 8, businesses around the U.S. are taking time to thank veterans for their service and sacrifice by participating in Freedom Day USA. The annual event connects businesses with veterans for a nationwide “thank you,” and gives veterans a “day of free, for a lifetime of freedom.”
BenchMark Dental, 1555 Main St. Ste. A2, Windsor, is preparing for its fourth year of participating in the program.
“Our men and women of our Armed Forces make great personal sacrifices in order to secure and protect our freedoms,” Joshua Fowler, DMD said. “Their families have endured hardships and some have given all they have so that we may live in peace, free to pursue our dreams.”
Some of the services Fowler and his colleague, Brittany Corley, DMD, will provide to veterans are checkups, extractions and filling cavities.
Each year the office has seen the number of veterans signing up for services increase, Bridget Chavez, office manager explained.
“Last year we saw 18 veterans, and this year we are hoping to see 20,” she said. “We started out doing fillings and extractions and other simple little things. But Dr. Fowler has been doing a lot more crowns and root canals. Each year he’s getting to do more treatment on our veterans instead of just small emergency things.”
Services will be offered from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and veterans interested in participating will need to make an appointment with the office ahead of the event day.
In addition to dental services, each veteran will be gifted with a goodie bag containing a thank you letter, coupons for free tire rotations and oil changes, and gift cards for coffee.
“We get breakfast burritos in the morning from Taco Johns and pizza from Domino’s for lunch,” Chavez said. “I really enjoy putting this event together.”
