In a trip that had been in the works since Spring 2020, the Cowley College Golden Tigers took their final day trip of the semester on Friday, November 12. The group visited the Kansas State Capitol and the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka, KS.
“We toured the beautiful building at the Kansas State Capitol where we were able to take in all the details from carefully restored murals to the spectacular view gazing upwards into the copper dome,” Golden Tigers coordinator Micah Fry said. “It was just fascinating to see the level of detail in the design of the building while learning more about our state’s rich history. The history lesson continued at the Kansas Museum of History where they have a fantastic collection!”
The museum is home to a steam locomotive that the Golden Tigers could stroll around and even enter in areas. They museum also has a Southern Cheyenne teepee and one of the largest collections of prairie memorabilia.
“It was a perfect complement to the state capitol,” Fry said. “It has been a successful semester of day trips, and I am already planning our spring trips. It is going to be such a fun spring.”
