Grand Canyon National Park will be closed for three days prior to a limited opening during the Memorial Day weekend, according to the National Park Service.
The agency said the park will be closed through Thursday due to public health concerns surrounding COVID-19.
The agency said limited access to the Grand Canyon's South Rim will be available Friday through Memorial Day on Monday. The agency said it will give additional details at a later time.
The agency said it will provide those details through its website.
The news comes days after various overlooks and picnic areas reopened on the South Rim after being shut down on April 1 to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Typically, Memorial Day marks the start of the park's busy season.
However, the North Rim remains closed at this time.
