Morning Briefing: Happy Opening Day!

Good morning, Mets fans! The big day is finally here — April Fool’s day.

Just kidding! We have finally made it to opening day — and if you are a Mets fan, you have to feel good about what occurred during the 11 o’clock hour last night.

That good feeling would come from what began as a dramatic turn of events on Wednesday evening. Regardless, the Mets were able to lock up their superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor to a long-term deal for 10 years, $341 million. MLB insider Jon Heyman was first on the agreement and MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo had the details.

With the extension set to kick in after the 2021 season, this means the Mets will have Lindor for the next 11 years in Queens.

Now, we have real baseball games to watch, so let’s check out what went on around the league on Wednesday!
