The Llano County Beef and Range Field Day is Tuesday, June 1, at the John L. Kuykendall Arena and Events Center, 2200 RR 152 in Llano. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The program starts at 8:30 a.m. Admission is free.

The event is hosted by the Llano County Extension Service.

Topics and speakers include:

  • Herbicide applications that best fit the situation and the proper application protocols, Jamie Halfmann and Tanner Chancelor
  • Picolinc Acid Chemistry Training: A Requirement for Application of Invora Herbicide, Dr. Robert Lyons, professor and extension range specialist
  • Landowner rights and handling of pesticide and herbicide treatments, Dr. Mark Matocha, assistant professor and extension agriculture and environmental safety specialist
  • Freeze-damaged trees, Robert Edmonson, biologist with the Texas A&M Forest Service

The Extension Service is offering three continuing education units for attendees with private, commercial, or non-commercial pesticide applicators licenses: one in general; one in integrated pest management; and one in laws/regulations.

Coffee and donuts in the morning sponsored by Llano Feed and Supply and the Hill Country Livestock Raisers’ Association. A barbecue lunch will be provided by Cooper’s BBQ and sponsored by Arrowhead Bank, BancorpSouth Bank, and Llano National Bank.
