ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Augustana track & field team completed day one of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday in Allendale, Michigan. Tyl Woelber is halfway through the decathlon in fourth place with 3,839 points to his name.
Woelber started the day with a 10th-place finish in the 100m narrowly missing his personal-best running a time of 11.31 granting the Viking 793 points.
In the second event of the day, the long jump, Woelber had the third-best leap of the competition with his jump of 23-2.5 scoring 830 points.
His seventh place finish in the shot put earned him 633 points with his throw of 40-9.75.
In the fourth event of the day for Woelber, the Viking tied for the second-highest jump clearing 6-8 to add 831 points to his point total.
The final event of day one for Woelber was the 400m where he ran 51.39 to gain 752 points to rank him fourth through the first five events of the decathlon.
Also competing in day one of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships was freshman Mathias Kollberg in the long jump
Kollberg improved on all three attempts, finishing 14th with a jump of 22-7.
Woelber returns to complete the decathlon with his first event starting in the 110m-hurdles starting at 8 a.m. (CT) Also competing Friday is senior Rebekah Rairdon in the 3,000m steeplechase slated for a 5:20 p.m. (CT) start.
