Now that restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic have been eased, the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce once again is hosting Freedom on the River.
The First Annual Corndog Eating Contest has been added to the lineup of events Sunday, July 4, at the Demopolis City Landing. Sponsored by Foster Farms and Robertson Banking Company, the contest will be limited to 10 competitors. Anyone interested in signing up must call the DACC at 289-0270 by Friday, July 2, to register.
Vendors will open their booths beginning at 4:30 p.m., and a Children’s Parade and games are planned from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The 2 Rivers Arts Council is sponsoring Josh Kinney who will provide music for the crowd from 6:30-8:30 p.m. A Gardendale native , Kinney’s songs mix the feel-good charm of modern country music with the beat-heavy punch of pop. His music gives a nod to the past while putting a young, updated spin on the southern sounds he grew up with.
FIreworks will provide the climax for the day beginning at 9 p.m.
