The Freedom team was able to pick up a victory in this week’s co-ed softball action.
It was a close game that consisted of little scoring as the teams combined to score just 10 runs in the seven-inning affair. The Freedom squad trailed 2-0 until the top of the third. They were able to push a run home to close the gap to one run. Their following at-bats, Freedom erupted for four runs in the top of the fourth. They used five hits in the inning to plate the four runs and make it a 5-2 game. Freedom added an insurance run in the top of the sixth to put the score at 6-2.
The Punishers tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh. They sent six batters to the plate and shrunk the score to 6-4 with a pair of runs. With the tying run in the batter’s box, the Punishers batter grounded out to the shortstop and the rally fell short.
The two teams had a total of 18 hits in the contest. Freedom pounded out 10, while the Punishers had eight hits.
Leading the way for the Freedom squad was David Harris with a pair of hits, including a double. He was credited with three RBIs. Kyler Robinson also had two hits with a double and knocked in one run. Beau Devin and Alden Ross each had one hit that went for two bases, while Megan Dusing, Bobbie Harris, Amber Ross, and Aryan Meyers each had one hit. Meyers recorded one RBI in the game.
For the Punishers it was James Paul leading the team with two hits, including a double. He plated one run for his team. Garrett Creech had two hits and one RBI, while Andy Elliott had one hit that was a double. Brian Liske, Nick Woolney, and Alyson Bangert delivered one hit apiece.
