JACKSONVILLE – The fans attended again, and it stayed hot.

The Jaguars also moved a day closer to the full-padded, contact portion of 2021 Training Camp. Because that means the beginning of camp's competitive phase, that was perhaps the most important part of Day 4 of '21 camp for Head Coach Urban Meyer.

"The real stuff starts next week," Meyer said Saturday.

The Jaguars on Saturday worked for about two hours in temperatures that reached 90 degrees at the Dream Finders Homes Practice Complex. It was the fourth consecutive day of no-padded work.

Fans attended for a third consecutive day.

The Jaguars closed practice with a two-minute drill – with both rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence and veteran Gardner Minshew getting extensive repetitions. Meyer said a major emphasis will be placed on two-minute situations in training camp – adding that the importance of such situations were a major reason he hired experienced NFL coaches such as Darrell Bevell and Brian Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator and passing-game coordinator, respectively.

"In a lot of ways, the game's the same and in a lot of ways it's different," said Meyer, who is coaching in the NFL for the first time after 17 seasons as one of the most-successful college coaches of all time. "Clock management is a lot different. That's almost going to be daily moving forward."

Meyer addressed the media Saturday following practice, as did Lawrence and linebacker Joe Schobert. The Jaguars will not practice Sunday and will practice again Monday at 9:45 a.m.

Here's a look at Saturday's practice:

PLAY OF THE DAY

Saturday didn't feature quite as much extended team or seven-on-seven work as the previous two days, so there weren't as many opportunities for huge plays. Lawrence also said afterward he didn't feel he had as good a practice Saturday as he had Thursday and Friday. Still, Lawrence – the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft – turned in a couple of highlight plays. Perhaps the most impressive came in team, two-minute work later in practice. Lawrence moved the offense downfield with a series of short passes, then connected with veteran wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. on a beautiful crossing pattern that Jones caught near the goal-line for a 30-yard touchdown.

STANDING OUT

*Jones, who signed as an unrestricted free agent from the Detroit Lions this past March, continued an impressive first four days of camp. One play after catching the crossing-route touchdown pass from Lawrence, he leaped high for a touchdown reception on a pass from Lawrence, tiptoeing the sidelines and landing in bounds for a short touchdown reception. …

*Veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew II turned in one of his better practices of '21 camp, capping practice with a touchdown drive in 7-on-7 work. He had an impressive completion to wide receiver Phillip Dorsett on a corner route and had two completions to wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, including a touchdown pass. …

*Treadwell continued a solid start to camp and continued to look impressive, catching a long 40-yard pass from Minshew that he caught on his back after bobbling the ball initially. …

*Wide receiver Pharoh Cooper caught multiple passes from Minshew in 7-on-7 work…

*Defensive end/linebacker Josh Allen deflected a pass from Lawrence late in practice. …

*Dorsett also continued an impressive start to camp. …

*Kicker Josh Lambo was inconsistent late in practice, going two-for-four at the end of one two-minute drive and going three-for-five at the end of another two-minute drive. He missed two field goals from 55 yards before converting from 55 to end practice. …

INJURY WATCH

Tight end James O'Shaughnessy missed practice Saturday with an ankle injury, and Meyer said he is expected to return Monday. Rookie wide receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe did not participate, nor did wide receiver Josh Hammond.

*Defensive tackle Taven Bryan, linebacker Dylan Moses and wide receiver Jamal Agnew remained on the active/non-football injury list. Meyer said Bryan – a first-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft – was involved in an accident that wasn't his fault and he is expected to return soon. …

*The Jaguars released kicker Aldrick Rosas from the active/non-football list Friday and Meyer spoke highly of the veteran kicker Saturday. "We were down a couple of legs at receiver; I really liked Rosas," Meyer said. "[General Manager] Trent Baalke and I will discuss that."

*Cornerbacks CJ Henderson and Chris Claybrooks remained on the COVID-19/reserve list. Safety Jarrod Wilson missed practice Saturday because of COVID-19 contact, Meyer said.
