BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. — The Saratoga County Animal Shelter will host a “Dog Gone Adoption Day” on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its facility at 6010 County Farm Road in Ballston Spa.
The event focuses on canine adoptions. The Shelter will waive the $55 dog adoption fee for any families who adopt a dog at the “Dog Gone Adoption Day” event. Families adopting a dog will need to pay only $36 for rabies vaccination, health tests, and the dog license fee.
If you’re looking to add a furry family member to your household, please visit the Saratoga County Animal Shelter’s website to view adoptable dog profiles and to ensure the pup you’re interested in adopting has a personality that will match your lifestyle. Individuals are also asked to fill out the Adopter Profile, available on the Shelter’s website or at the event, so staff may help find the best fit for both the adopter and dog.
CDC COVID-19 guidelines will be followed at this event.
The Saratoga County Animal Shelter reminds those who need to surrender a pet that they should first ask family or friends who may be able to take in their pet. If this option has been exhausted, the Shelter will provide a courtesy post on its Facebook page for Saratoga County residents seeking to rehome a pet. While the Saratoga County Animal Shelter does take in surrendered pets, shelter surrenders should be the last resort for people as any shelter is a high-stress environment for animals.
