In 1986, South African activist, Nobel Peace Prize recipient and Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu receives the Martin Luther King Jr. Nonviolent Peace Prize for his commitment and role during the struggle against apartheid, from Coretta Scott King (left), her daughter Christine King Farris (rear) and Tutu

Desmond Tutu will be remembered for helping end apartheid. But also for his memorable laugh, an infectious, cackling, howl employed in the service of easing tensions in a very tense nation.
