Amanda Rapel made three 3-pointers and three free throws, scoring a team-high 14 points as Phillipsburg defeated Freedom of Pennsylvania in the first round of the Jack Bennett Easton Rotary Holiday Classic, 41-30, at Easton Middle School in Pennsylvania.
Keya Gulati made four 3-pointers on the way to 13 points while Nilaja Wiltshire tallied seven points for Phillipsburg (3-1), which will face host team Easton (PA) in the championship round on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Though the teams are from different states, they are no strangers to each other, having competed in five games since Jan. 2017, with Easton winning four of the last five.
Monet Gonda chipped in five points for Phillipsburg, which led by four at halftime before expanding the lead by outscoring Freedom by a count of 11-7 in the third quarter to pull further away.
