PITTSBURGH — More than 100 people marched across the Roberto Clemente Bridge and gathered at Point State Park for the Americans For Freedom Rally Saturday morning.

This was one of many demonstrations being held across the country to protest COVID-19 restrictions.

The March started on the north shore made its way over the Clemente Bridge, through the downtown to Point State Park to voice their opposition to mask mandates and business closures.

Rally attendee Sherri Walker, of Westview, said the rally was to, “defend our constitutional rights. Which Governor Wolf has stumped on since the beginning. And so now it’s time to open things up. It’s time to get back to normal. So many businesses and even small businesses I know have lost them for good.”

About a hundred people were on hand, many waving American flags and Trump flags, some holding signs that read “Masks are Making Us Sick” and “Freedom Over Fear.” And they made a statement by not wearing a mask.

Elected officials and conservative media members spoke at the rally, pushing back against mask mandates and business closures.

The PA Freedom Campaign organized the March and rally in Pittsburgh.
