Mystic — St. Patrick's Day was a little muted this year due to the coronavirus pandemic but folks maintained some of the holiday traditions.
At Harp and Hound, a traditional Irish pub, Pat Carrol of Marlborough was leading a group in singing an Irish song.
While the Mystic Irish Parade and 5K road race were canceled to help stem the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, the annual walk/run went virtual this year. It takes place from March 17 to 21 and people can register at bit.ly/mysticirish5k to participate.
Proceeds from the registration fees will go to the Groton Parks and Recreation Department and the Mystic Irish Parade Foundation. The event is hosted by Advantage Personal Training and other local businesses.
Diane Kolnaski of Mystic and Denise Pierson of Stonington donned festive accessories Wednesday to participate in the virtual 5K.
