PROSPECT, Ky. - The IUPUI women's golf team had a mixed bag of a day at the Nevel Meade Collegiate on Monday (Mar. 22), carding rounds of 298 and 315 to end the day in fifth among the 11-team field. IUPUI used a late charge in the opening round to pull even atop the leaderboard at 298, but limped to the finish line with a second round 315.

Horizon League foe Youngstown State leads the field at 589, followed by Central Michigan (602), Purdue Fort Wayne (604) and Oakland (606).

Amelie Svejda leads the Jaguars at 152 (77-75) and is tied for 11th among the 71-player field and freshman Shelby Busker is tied for 23rd at 155 (74-81). Kara Blair was just off her pace at 156 (72-84), including an opening round 72.

"Overall today I felt confident with full swings. There was a bit of a struggle with the short game, especially the second 18," Blair said. "After some overview with coach, it will be pretty easy fixes."

Freshman Madeleine Pape and senior Sloane Winders are tied for 26th at 157. In the morning round Winders had a countable round of 75 which included three birdies.

Blair had a team-best round of 72 in the morning, but wasn't countable in the second round as she carded 84. She was solid in the morning with 14 pars to go along with two birdies and two bogeys.

Svejda started her day poorly, making an early triple bogey and getting to 5-over after a double bogey on No. 11. She responded with three straight birdies to creep back to 2-over before making a second triple bogey on her final hole of the round to close at 77. She retaliated with a second round 75, making four bogeys and a birdie.

Busker was lso strong in the morning, hovering near par for much of the round by carding two birdies and four bogeys. Pape started slowly in the morning, but quickly reeled it in, including a stretch of nine holes that she played to 2-under.

The second round was more of a slog for the Jags as Svejda posted a 75 and Pape shot 77, including four birdies. Busker (81), Winders (82) and Blair (84) rounded out the group.

Freshman Annaliese Fox topped IUPUI's three individual entries at 159 (79-80) and she, Ally Stuckey (84-90=174) and Keisha Bennett (94-87=181) all three made their collegiate debuts.

YSU's Danae Rugola leads the field at even par 144 (76-68) and owns a one-shot lead on teammate Katlyn Shutt and Oakland's Amalia Shahzan.

The tournament will conclude with a final round, beginning on Tuesday morning (Mar. 23).
