WATERLOO, Iowa -- After shooting a team total of 341 on day one of the Upper Iowa Invitational, the Augustana men's golf squad saw every individual shave five-or-more strokes off of their day-one score, improving the team score to 308 (a 33 stroke differential) on day two.
As a team, the Vikings finished fourth at the tournament.
Individually, Augustana was led by junior Hunter Von Bergen. Von Bergen earned a top-10 finish (tying for eighth-place) at the tournament with a two-day score of 158. On day two, the junior shaved an impressive 10 strokes off of his day one total (84 to 74).
Fellow junior Jacob Lee followed Von Bergen with a two-day score of 161. Lee shaved seven strokes off of his day one total (84 to 77) and earned a 12th place finish at the tournament.
Fellow junior Sam Sutcliffe followed Lee with a two-day score of 163, shaving five strokes off of his day one total (84 to 79) and earning a tie for 14th place at the tournament.
Junior Alex Stanz shaved 14 strokes off of his day one total (92 to 78) and shot a two-day score of 170. Freshman Spencer Wittstruck rounded out the day for the Vikings with a two-day score of 171. The freshman improved by seven strokes (89 to 82) from day one to day two.
Up Next
The Vikings will take Sunday off and then compete in the Central Missouri Mule Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Warrensburg, Missouri, at the Mules National Golf Club.
