DeKALB, Ill. – As the 2021-22 school year gets underway, Northern Illinois University Athletics is excited to welcome fans back at 100 percent capacity to all Huskie athletics venues in 2021-22.
In order to better serve fans at Huskie Stadium (football) and the NIU Convocation Center (volleyball, men's and women's basketball), fans will notice several changes to the game day experience this year. In addition, the transition to mobile tickets, which began in 2019 at NIU and has become standard at athletics events and concerts across the country, continues.
See below for more information, including guidelines on masks in indoor spaces, in accordance with university directives.
Mask Guidelines (as of 8/20/21)
At Huskie Stadium: As access to seating areas at Huskie Stadium is considered an "indoor" area, masks are required to enter and at all times – including in concession lines and restroom areas – until reaching or in the immediate vicinity of your seats. Masks are required at all times for all guests in the Skybox, Press Box, Coaches Club and South End Zone unless eating or drinking. For guests in the Yordon Terrace Suites, masks are required if inside the Yordon Center, but not in individual suites.
In the NIU Convocation Center/Victor E. Court: Masks are required at all times unless eating or drinking.
Masks are NOT required in outdoor areas, including the tailgate areas and parking lots at Huskie Stadium and the Convocation Center, at the NIU Soccer/Track & Field Complex, Mary M. Bell Field or Ralph McKinzie Field. Fans are asked to social distance in concession or restroom lines at those facilities.
***NEW*** Clear/Small Bag Policy
Beginning this fall, a clear bag policy has been instituted at Huskie Stadium and the NIU Convocation Center. No large bags or purses will be permitted for NIU football, volleyball or men's and women's basketball games. Approved bags include one clear plastic 12" x 12" x 6" stadium bag OR a one (1) gallon clear plastic storage bag OR one (1) clutch purse size 4.5" x 6.5" or smaller.
***NEW*** Re-Entry Policy (Football)
Fans who leave Huskie Stadium will not be permitted to re-enter once the third quarter has started.
Mobile Tickets
NIU introduced mobile ticketing in 2019 as a faster, more convenient way to enter Huskie Stadium and the NIU Convocation Center for Huskie Athletics events and that continues to be true, as well as providing a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative. Mobile tickets cannot be lost, allow fans to avoid Will Call lines and are easily transferable to friends or family members. Detailed instructions on how to manage NIU tickets on your mobile device are available here. Fans are strongly encouraged to access the bar code and download tickets to your phone IN ADVANCE of arrival at the stadium or Convocation Center on game day as cell service may be limited.
Parking (Football)
In 2021, the cost of parking in the NIU Convocation Center lots is included in the cost of NIU football tickets or provided as a season ticket member benefit. As a result, there will be no charge for either season, mini-plan or single game ticketholders to park in the Convocation Center lots. To receive premium area parking in lots located closer to Huskie Stadium, contact the Huskie Athletic Fund at 815-753-1923.
NIU Huskies App
Download the free NIU Huskies app (see link above) on your Android or iOS smart phone to access rosters, live stats and social media feeds for all sports, and on football game days, links to the live radio broadcast. A digital game program will also be accessible via the app.
