AKRON, OHIO – The Purple Eagles set multiple different program records during day one of the Zippy Invite in Akron, Ohio. The women's program set records in six different events, while the men set a new record in the 500 free.
Women's Recap
• In the preliminary portion of the day's schedule Megan Smith set the 200 IM program record with a time of 2:07.32, however Katrina Wardner would eclipse Smith's time by nearly two seconds with a mark of 2:05.42.
• The two would compete in the finals and record times of 2:06.19 and 2:04.10, respectively. Wardner's finals time would surpass the time she set earlier in the day and set a program record.
• Moana Houde-Camirand set a program record in the 500 free during the preliminary round – finishing with a time of 5:05.07. The time was good enough to qualify for the finals later in the day where she then finished with a time of 5:08.10.
• Avery Sanquist also qualified for the 500 free finals with a time of 5:07.86. She later improved on her time in the finals, finishing with a time of 5:05.80.
• Wardner, and Houde-Camirand would qualify for the 50 free finals as well with a time of 24.25 and 25.30, respectively.
• Paige South would also qualify for the 50 free final after posting a time of 24.94 in the prelim event.
• In the 50 free final South (23.80), and Wardner (24.19) each secured team points for the Purple Eagles. Houde-Camirand finished with a time of 24.17.
• Niagara's 400 medley relay final of South, Kathryn Brady, Wardner and Yvonne Schere finished with a program record time of 3:51.39.
• Smith would set the 100 back program record with a time of 58.16, only to have it broken by her teammate South moments later with a time of 57.03.
• The 200 free relay also set a Niagara program record as South, Wardner, Schere and Lila Maddux finished with a time of 1:35.47.
• Five Purple Eagle divers competed in the 1-meter event, with Sydney Sarkis recording the team's best score of 181.85. Morgan MacMahon (156.40), Maggie Hennebaul (150.50), Lexi Seelbach (136.45) and Chloe Noah (128.45) also competed in the event.
• At the end of day one, Niagara sits in 8th place with 50 points.
Men's Recap
• Nathan Dragon set the program record in the 500 free during prelims with a time of 4:31.82. The freshman then finished ninth overall in the finals with a time of 4:26.96 to break his own record from earlier in the day.
• Reid Tichy also qualified for the 500 free finals with a time of 4:56.79. He would go on to finish 19th with a time of 4:34.68.
• Kevin Vu and Dragon qualified for the 50 free final with times of 21.39 and 22.09, respectively. In the finals, Vu would finish ninth overall with a time of 20.52 and Dragon would come in 22nd with a time of 21.05.
• The men's 200 free relay team of Levi Morgan, Vu, Tanner Isaacs and Dragon finished 15th overall with a time of 1:24.92.
• The 400 free relay quartet of Gio Germano, Sean Finley, Vu and Tichy finished 16th with a time 3:25.24.

• Niagara continues the Zippy Invite on Saturday with competition starting at 9:00 a.m. from the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium.
