STILLWATER- Oklahoma State's third-ranked equestrian team defeated No. 7 TCU, 13-5, on Saturday to begin its second consecutive Big 12 Conference weekend doubleheader.
The meet started with Fences and Horsemanship coinciding, where the Cowgirls took each event with the same score, 3-2.
In Horsemanship, TCU claimed the first point when Anna Hauter defeated Sydnee Gemar, 71.5-70, before Harley Huff evened up the score by defeating Giorgia Medows, 74-71.5. In her first career ride as a Cowgirl, freshman Maddie Fussell defeated Mattie Dukes, 74-73.5.
Senior Cassidy Watters claimed an OSU point in her last ride in Stillwater, winning 73.5-71 to earn the Cowgirls' third point of the event. TCU finished up Horsemanship with a point when Jessica McAlister defeated Jojo Roberson, 75.5-74.5.
In Fences, OSU senior Katie Schell moved to 4-0 on the season when she beat Wynne Weatherly, 82-75. Following Schell's point, TCU countered with two-straight points as Horned Frog Isabella Baxter defeated Paige Jones, 84-78, and Sydnie Ziegler dropped her point, 81-79, to Ashleigh Scully.
Fences finished up with OSU gaining an advantage after Cowgirl Emma Pacyna earned MOP honors by dominating TCU's Alex Beneson, 90-77. Senior Abigail Brayman earned the Cowgirls' final Fences point with her 88-71.5 rout of Raegan Rast.
During the second half of the meet, Reining and Flat coincided. The Cowgirls dominated in Reining, starting with Molly Mitchell earning a point by defeating Bella Andrews, 68.5-67. Stephanie Helsen and TCU's Madyson Buchanan tied at 69, earning neither team a point.
OSU gained momentum off of two consecutive points courtesy of Kinsey Jones 68-61 victory over Medows. Next, Hannah Lovrien picked up a win by defeating Shea Graham, 69.5-69. TCU's only Reining point came from Mattie Dukes, a 70.5-65 winner against Roberson.
The Cowgirls routed the Frogs in Flat, winning the event 4-0. Schell tied Alex Beneson at 79 but remained undefeated on the season, and OSU would follow Schell's tie with four-straight Cowgirl points to finish off TCU.
Brayman earned her second point of the day, defeating TCU's Jacey Albaugh, 87-85, before Hope King took down Baxter, 86-81. Hannah Coleman earned MOP honors and scored a Cowgirl point by way of a 90-88 defeat of Ashleigh Scully, and Katie Pelzel closed out the Flat sweep for OSU when she beat Wynne Weatherly, 84-77.
OSU will compete tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Baylor in Waco, Texas.
