WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Duke women's tennis had a solid showing on day one of the ITA Regionals on Thursday, hosted by Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The Blue Devils received a strong performance from their doubles pairings who combined to go 3-1 in the opening round, with the tandems of Karolina Berankova and Georgia Drummy, Kelly Chen and Eliza Omirou and Chloe Beck and Margaryta Bilokin each advancing to the Round of 16.

Duke featured several new doubles pairings for the first time this fall. Drummy and Berankova picked up the first doubles win of the day for the Blue Devils, cruising to an 8-0 victory over Jade Houston and Hannah Gaines of North Carolina Central. Chen and Omirou followed suit with an 8-2 win of their own by defeating Davidson's Daniela Porges/Linden Patterson, then Beck and Bilokin closed out the day with a win against Ellie Schulson/Sara Snyder, beating the Furman pair, 8-2, to secure Duke's third win of the day.

Freshmen Ellie Coleman and Emma Jackson have moved to the consolation round of the doubles draw after falling to NC State's Julia Abrams/Sophie Abrams. Coleman and Jackson were involved in a tight contest against the Wolfpack duo but ultimately dropped the tiebreaker, falling 8-7(5).

Berankova competed in the only singles action of the day in the qualifying draw. Although she dropped a pair of tight, 7-5 matches to Wake Forest's 16th-seeded Peyton Pesavento in the opening round, Berankova's confidence didn't shake. The sophomore showed her resolve in the consolation draw and cruised to victory over Elon's Victoria Saldh, 6-2, 6-0.

Berankova and Drummy, as well as Chen and Omirou are set to commence play at 9 a.m. while Beck and Bilokin's day will start at 10 a.m. Coleman and Jackson are set to take the court on Friday morning at 9 a.m., for the consolation draw.
