Miyan Williams expected back for Indiana, per Day | Cam Brown 'day-to-day' - 247Sports

What is going on with Miyan Williams? That is the question a lot of Ohio State fans have been pondering the last few weeks. The redshirt freshman running back started the first two games of the season for the Buckeyes, but did not make the trip to Rutgers two weeks ago and was not on the sideline at Ohio Stadium during OSU’s win over Maryland this past weekend.

The 5-foot-8, 225-pound Williams has rushed for 249 yards (7.8 yards per carry) and a touchdown this season. In four games in 2020, the Cincinnati native rushed 10 times for 64 yards (6.4 ypc).

True freshman TreVeyon Henderson has taken over as Ohio State’s starting running back and has rushed for 612 yards (8.7 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns. Meanwhile, fourth-year junior Master Teague has served as the second-team tailback the last four games and has rushed for 245 yards (5.7 ypc) and three touchdowns.

Bucknuts asked Ohio State head coach Ryan Day on Tuesday if he expects Williams will play against Indiana in Bloomington on Oct. 23.

“Yeah, we expect to have him back,” Day said. “Can’t get into specifics (as to why he was not with the team on Saturday), but we do expect to have him back for our next game.”

There have been rumblings that Williams was not exactly pleased about taking a lesser role beginning with the Tulsa game in week three. Not necessarily losing his starting job to the phenom Henderson, but being relegated to third-team duty.

Day wasn’t going to get into specifics about that either, but Bucknuts did ask how Williams has been dealing with his situation.

“He seems to be doing well,” Day said. “I’m looking forward to seeing him get back out there practicing this week. I’m sure he was anxious to get back out there and all those things.”

The Buckeyes will practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as usual this week, and then Day will give the players Friday and Saturday off (they need to report back Sunday afternoon).

Day on Brown

Fourth-year junior cornerback Cameron Brown left the Maryland game with an injury and did not return. Day was asked about his status.

“I don’t know if he’ll practice this week,” Day said. “We’re going to go day-to-day and see how he’s feeling. Hopefully this is just another bump in the road because he’s been playing really well and is a big part of our defense. He’s had some trouble staying on the field, but he’s played really well and hopefully we’ll have him back for the Indiana game”
