"It is great to have a lot of competitive situations this weekend," coach Miha Lisac said. "Our aim is to build and improve as a program throughout the fall circuit and we are looking to have a great weekend growing as a team."

Doubles Recap
Doubles pair freshman Camilla Bossi and sophomore Ting-Pei Chang started things off strong in the morning session of Friday's tournament opener, as they defeated JMU's Daria Afanasyeva and Kylie Moulin 6-4.
Freshmen pair Kendall Kovick and Michaela Kucharova battled it out with the Duke's Hope Moulin and Amanda Nord, but dropped the set, 4-6.
To finish doubles-play against JMU, sophomore Momoko Nagato and junior Penny Hsieh went toe-to-toe with Michelle Los Arcos and Daniela Voloh, but ultimately fell in the tiebreaker set, 7-6(7-4).
For the match-up against Penn State, two Mountaineers doubles claimed victories over the Nittany Lions. Bossi and Chang notched their second win of the day, 6-0, over Karly Friedland and Deanna Lasorda.
Nagato and Hsieh faced WVU's lone set-back against PSU. The pair fell to Sofiya Chekhlystova and Gabby O'Gorman, 0-6.
To wrap up doubles competition, Kovick and Kucharova tallied their first doubles victory of the weekend defeating Olivia Ryan and Sydney Weinberg, 6-2.
Singles Recap
West Virginia went 3-3 in singles play against Louisville, while Hsieh went toe-to-toe with JMU to conclude day one competition.
Nagato and Kucharova bagged the Mountaineers back-to-back singles wins to kick off singles. Nagato defeated Tyra Richardson (6-1, 6-2), while Kucharova claimed the victory over Joy Callwood (6-4, 6-0).
Senior Anastasiia Bovolskaia suffered a set back against Dina Chaika, 6-4, 6-3, before WVU dropped the next two singles matches. In a three-set battle, Bossi was defeated by Tatiana Simova, 2-6, 7-6, 10-3, before Chang fell to Rhea Verma, 2-6, 6-2, 10-7.
Kovick continued her impressive start to her college career against Chelsea Sawyer. After dropping the first frame, Kovick battled back to claim the second and force the tiebreaker. In the deciding frame, the freshman defeated Sawyer, 11-9, to notch another win for WVU.
Hsieh earned West Virginia its seventh and final victory of the day as she outlasted JMU's Alexandra Prudente, 7-6(4), 6-3.

The Mountaineers are scheduled to open day 2 of competition with doubles against Louisville at 9 a.m. Following the morning session of doubles play, WVU is set to face the Dukes in singles at 2 p.m.
