PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – A total of three school records fell or were tied and Laura Edmonds (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Cypress Bay) carded a hole-in-one on the 16th hole as the FGCU women's golf team turned in a monster third round to finish fourth overall at the Jupiter Invitational hosted by FAU at the PGA Golf Club's Ryder Course on Tuesday.

Edmonds set a school-record with a six-under 65 to finish second overall. Her hole-in-one was the third for the Eagles since 2018. Her six under performance also tied the school record for Low Round vs. Par. She also tied for the second-best low 54-hole total in program history with a three-round score of 206. For the Jupiter Invitational, her score of 65 today was a new tournament record, while her hole-in-one was the first ever for the event.

As a team, the Eagles shot a school-record 279 on Tuesday which was the lowest score of the day. Overall, FGCU cut a whopping 16 strokes off Monday's second round score to finish with a 54-hole total of 871.

"I am so proud of this team and the way they came together today. After yesterday we knew we had to respond and I could not be more pleased," said head coach Sarah Trew. "This group has a tremendous amount of talent and I'm happy that was able to show today. We had the low round of the day, the second lowest round of the tournament, and Laura broke a school record. Even though she came up spot short of winning overall, Laura had an amazing tournament and I'm so proud of her. She knew she needed to make a couple birdies and she finished with a hole-in-one, birdie, and an amazing par on 18. We are looking forward to FIU in a couple weeks."

Along with Edmonds finishing second, Haley Yerxa (Ottawa, Ontario/Hillcrest) tied for 12th (219), followed by Anouk Casty (Basserdrof, Switzerland/Academia) and Posie Farrelly (Lutz, Fla./George Steinbrenner HS) who finished 23rd (223) and t-24th (224), respectively. Sophia Warren (Lakewood Ranch, Fla./Seminole State College) tied for 39th (230), while Emma Grace Messenger (Montgomery, Texas/Legacy Prep Christian Academy), who played as an individual, tied for 41st (231).

Host FAU won the tournament with a three-rounds core of 858, while Kennesaw State took second (862). Nova Southeastern took third with a 54-hole total of 863.

Edmonds' hole-in-one was the first since Madeline Marck-Sherk carded one on March 31, 2019 on No. 16 of the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate. Madison Easterbrook posted one the year before (March 12, 2018) on No. 7 of the WKU Spring Break Shootout.
She finished the tournament with the second-most birdies overall (13) and her ace served as an eagle as well. Today's third round had five birdies, the eagle, and just one bogey for the six-under finish.

Casty shot a one-under 70 on Tuesday with four birdies total. She opened the round with three birdies in the first six holes before finishing the front nine at two under. On the back side, she had seven holes at par-or-better before recording bogeys on No. 17 and No. 18.

Yerxa carded a 72 on Tuesday with a pair of birdies offsetting two of three bogeys. She was even at the turn, went over on No. 12 and No. 14, but finished strong with three straight pars before closing the day with a birdie on No. 18.

Farrelly was also one over on the day with four birdies to her credit. On the backside of the course, she cancelled out two bogeys with a pair of birdies.

The Eagles will next be in action on October 16-18, Saturday through Monday, at the Pat Bradley Invitational hosted by FIU in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
